Why Purgatory?
Explanation After Recipe
First, get a small , 6 inch , fry pan and add marinara sauce to a depth of
about one inch. Sprinkle in red pepper seeds to level of fire desired.
Break two eggs into pan carefully , so as not to break yolks.
Poach
eggs in the sauce slowly until whites are cooked and yolks are soft . Do not disturb.
Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on eggs.
Serve
with toasted crusty Italian bread .
The metaphor :
The red sauce , with burning hot pepper , is HELL.
The eggs, suspended above the sauce
,are the souls floating above eternal damnation but not under the fires.
The grated cheese , on top of the eggs ( souls ) , gives a
view of salvation with the sprinkling of angels.
