Car Surfing

Lots of news lately about "car-surfing" . This isn't a new practice. When I borrowed the family 1936 Chevy in the 40's, my friend Carroll Bump drove while I , as the passenger, would open the door , stand on the running board, close the door , climb over the fender onto the hood, use whatever handholds that were available, step onto the driver side running board . Bump opened the door and slid over to the vacated passenger seat , while steering with his left hand and his left foot on the accelerator. I would slip behind the wheel and take control. Driver change without stopping or changing speed. Lots of fun !
